I was browsing LinkedIn this morning and received an article recommendation in my notifications – “Here is why batching emails beats continuous checking”
It argued that continuous checking of email wastes time and splits focus. Workers should check their emails in 3 batches throughout the day – start, middle, and end.
Most commenters agreed. I’ll also agree that this is ideal for most jobs.
But people who responded to my messages quickly have always been the most memorable to me. So I’ve always preferred responding quickly over batching. Email notifier browser extensions have helped me with this.
And when it comes to building your Discord community, quick responses win loyalty. Community members will feel like a priority. It’s what will differentiate your server on the platform.
The ideal Discord manager:
Naturally loves responding quickly to people
Genuinely connects with community members
Masterfully moves conversations forward with thoughtful questions and insights
Knows when to validate community members, and also when to challenge them
Enjoys clearing channel list “unread markers”
Next post will be on building community infrastructure to support Discord managers
